Privacy
SCCE’s Privacy Policy reflects its intention to respect and protect
the private information of its members and other users of its website.
To protect online information, SCCE has implemented the following policy.
What Information is Collected?
SCCE collects data only if it helps to better service its members. It
is our policy to collect and store only personal information that our
members and visitors knowingly provide, with an aim to keeping users informed
about new information, products, and services that may be of interest
and value.
From General Users
SCCE does not collect any personal information from users browsing its
Web site. Users to the public areas of SCCE’s Web site browse anonymously.
Only aggregate data, such as the number of hits per page, is collected.
From SCCE Members, Conference Registrants, and Other Customers
To gain access to members only resources and features of the SCCE Web
site which require personalization, members and other users are asked
to register and provide limited information. SCCE asks users to provide
their name, member number (for members), organization name, business phone,
and email. Similar information may be submitted to SCCE through membership
applications, conference or seminar registration, product orders, subscriptions,
and other forms of communication.
How Does SCCE Use Data Collected?
SCCE uses information voluntarily submitted by members and other customers
in the following ways:
SCCE Member and Non-Member Services and Products. SCCE uses data collected
only to respond to members and non-members needs and preferences, to improve
its Web content, and to develop new products and services.
SCCE offers members certain features and services through the restricted
access “Members Section” of our Web site. The Members Section
allows our members to access and update their Member Profiles, which consists
of personal information we have collected from each member as part of
their membership application, and to change their passwords. Member and
customer profiles are maintained in our main database. This information
includes such information as member ID number, name, firm/organization,
address, telephone and fax number, and email address. Member and customer
information in our data base is occasionally used by SCCE to distribute
marketing materials by mail, fax or email.
SCCE may also collect a password, a username, and a security response
(a unique piece of personal information) for each member who uses the
online Members section. This information is accessed only when necessary
to provide technical support.
Disclosures to Third Parties
SCCE makes member contact information available to other members through
the SCCE Membership Directory. SCCE may occasionally provide limited information
to third parties that offer products and services. This limited data includes
names, job titles, companies and business addresses, but does not include
phone numbers, fax numbers or email addresses. This is done on a case-by-case
basis only when the requester can demonstrate that the service or product
will be of some interest or benefit to members and third parties are otherwise
restricted from using or retaining such information. Members may request
SCCE to refrain from disclosing to third parties the data it collects.
However, electing not to receive these communications may mean that you
will not receive notices about products, events, or services that may
be useful to you.
Credit Card Account Information
SCCE does not disclose credit card account information provided by its
members and customers to any entity except to SCCE in order to obtain
payment.
What Privacy Issues Arise With Links To Other Sites?
This Web site contains links to other web sites. SCCE has no control
over and is not responsible for the content, or practices and procedures
of such sites.
Confidentiality and Security
SCCE maintains technology and procedures to prevent unauthorized access
to each user’s customer information and other personally identifiable
information. This information is not disclosed to unauthorized third parties.
User IDs and Passwords are maintained by the user who is responsible
for their confidentiality as well as for the confidentiality of all related
customer information and other personally identifiable information. SCCE
will not be liable for any loss whatsoever arising from a user’s
failure to comply with these security requirements.

and without prior notice. Any changes to this policy will be posted on
our website. Contact with SCCE, without requesting exclusion from this
Privacy Policy, constitutes acceptance of this Policy. Continued use of
any product following any announced changes to the Privacy Policy constitutes
acceptance of those changes.
